Now a regular entertainer at our club, Paul gave us another lovely show of mainly modern music which was well enjoyed by listeners and dancers alike.

Starting tonight with Brooks and Dunn's, You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone, he continued with J.J.Cale's  / Eric Clapton's, Ride The River, and Rollin'  With The Flow, a No1 in 1977 but recently covered by Mark Chestnutt.

Continuing in similar vein, Paul delivered George Strait's, Angel Of Mercy,  and  Make Her Fall In Love With Me Song, / Toby Keith's, White Rose, and Cabo San Lucas, Rodney Crowell's,  I Walk The Line - Revisited, and Alan Jackson's, Who's Cheatin' Who.

All songs were presented in fine style and favourite tonight was the excellent number from Kenny Rogers catalogue, Someone Must Feel Like A Fool Tonight.

July 10th 2008 PAUL MARTIN

Following Paul's successful concert at our club last year, he was invited back for tonight's show which was equally enjoyable as his first.

Smartly attired for each of the three sessions, he delivered fine vocals and instrumentation for all of his songs, most of which came from the 'New Country'  genre.

Included  this evening were Alan Jackson's, Designated Drinker and Laid Back and Low Key, Josh Turner's, Your Man and Would You Go With Me, George Strait's, Write This Down,  and  I Just  Want To Dance With You, Toby Keith's, Where You Gonna Go, Rodney Atkins', If You're Going Through Hell  and Watching You, Keith Whitley's, Don't Close Your Eyes, Trace Adkins',  I Left Something Turned On at Home, Tracy Byrd's, Cowboy And The Dancer, Darryl Worley's, A Good Day To Run, Blake Shelton's, Some Beach and Tracy Lawrences, I See It Now and many others.

The variety of uptempo numbers and slow ballads catered well for both line and partner dancers and listeners and met with appreciative applause from our members, re-affirming Paul's popularity.

July 5th 2007...   PAUL MARTIN

Making his first appearance at our club tonight, Paul with wife Debbie had braved the elements to get here from his home in floods - torn Killamarsh, North Derbyshire.

This singer / guitarist first started performing during his teens whilst at school, having taught himself to play. He has been a member of various  bands playing different sorts of music but became particularly interested in country music with the advent of Country Music Television to Europe.
This introduction to 'New Country' paved the way for his appearance in the band, 'Heartland' for eighteen months, followed by involvement with ' Red Rock County' for eight years.

Following this, he decided to take a break from entertaining for sixteen months and started a solo career in February of this year.
He plays Rhythm guitar, has a powerfully melodic voice ideally suited for country music and dresses smartly for his stage appearances.
His material is almost entirely from the last fifteen years, the one exception being Billy 'Crash' Craddock's number one from 1974, Rub It In.

His programme was a lovely mix of ballads and up tempo numbers , all of which were well received and appreciated by our members. I particularly enjoyed the songs new to me, three from Georgia singer / songwriter Billy Currington and several others not heard often in our club. The new songs were, Off My Rocker,  Here I Am  and  I Wanna Be A Hillbilly. Amongs't those only heard occasionally were Tracy Byrd's, Holding Heaven, Jerry Kilgore's, I Just Want My Baby Back, The Derailers', The Right Place, Rickie Lynne's, Holdin' Back The Ocean, George Straits, Blue, Blue Sky, and three from Lonestar, Two Bottles Of Beer, Tequila Talking and Running Away With My Heart.

Better known songs included, One Night At A Time, Beer For My Horses, Down Louisiana Way, Neon Moon, It's Five O'
Clock Somewhere and Lovin' All Night.

Paul concluded an evening of super entertainment with a couple of encores, Brad Paisley's, Man Around Here, and One Good  Love, a duet by Waylon Jennings and Neil Diamond from the latter's excellent, Tennessee Moon Album.

With shows like this, I am sure  Paul will be asked to come back to our club.
