November 6th 2008. LYNNETTE MARIE Artistes new to the Country music circuit are always welcome at our club and tonight was such an occasion. Although she has performed elsewhere in this area, Lynnette was making her debut here and what a splendid concert she gave. From Walesby, Nottingham she started singing and playing various musical instruments at Sunday and Day school, later as a member of school bands. Her earliest professional engagements were in a trio, with her brother and a friend, called 'Common Ground' playing middle of the road music from the 60's to the 80's. Hankering for a change Lynnette decided to venture into a solo career five years ago and began concentrating on Country music 17 months ago. Tonight's show was a lovely, lively mix of old and new country, Lynnette playing rhythm guitar, and singing with a melodic voice. Songs included Loretta Lynn's, You Ain't Woman Enough, Heather Myles', Love Me Just A Little Bit Longer, Pam Tillis', Blue Rose Is, Billie Jo Spears, 57 Chevrolet, Anne Murray's, He Thinks I Still Care, Kathy Mattea's, 18 Wheels and A Dozen Roses, Crystal Gayle's, Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue and Dolly Parton's, To Daddy. Male singers were not excluded as Lynnette gave us great versions of Hank Williams', Your Cheatin' Heart, George Jones, Take Me, George Strait's, One Night At A Time. Songs not heard often on the circuit included Highway 101's, Somewhere Tonight, Jeanne Pruett's, Satin Sheets, Tanya Tucker's, San Antonio Stroll, Tammy Wynette's, I Don't Wanna Play House and Gretchen Wilson's, When I Think About Cheatin'. To bring this super show to a close, Lynnette delivered Roy Orbison's hand clapping, foot tapping classic, Penny Arcade, with the audience showing their appreciation throughout the night. After giving us a concert like this, Lynnette is bound to be asked back to our club. Cyril Insley
